Look, themes and tricks
How Pinchy looks and behaves on your desktop: the theme of every window, his tricks, his notifications and his keyboard shortcuts.
What to ask for
- “Switch to a dark theme.” or “Use the Nord theme.” He changes the theme of every window at once.
- “Do a backflip!” He plays a trick. “What tricks do you know?” shows the ones he has unlocked.
- “Be quieter.” He turns his sounds or his notifications down.
- “What is the shortcut to talk to you?” He tells you, and where to change it.
- “Stay on this screen.” or “Walk on all my monitors.” He changes where he may walk.
How it works
- Themes: 31 theme families, each in light and dark, with an accent colour and an icon style. A change shows at once in every window.
- More themes: an extension can add colour themes. They appear under “From your extensions” while that extension is switched on; switch it off and you are back on the theme you had before.
- Tricks: he learns a new trick at every milestone. Chats, finished tasks, Work and Code runs, agents and voice all count, and the last trick is a surprise. Extensions can add tricks too.
- Notifications arrive as a small bubble next to him; important ones also go to the system notification tray. You can ask for a desktop notification explicitly.
- Shortcuts are global: they work in any app. Every shortcut can be changed, and each feature shows its own shortcut where it is mentioned.
Settings
- Settings → Pinchy → Themes: light or dark, the colour theme, the accent colour, the icon style.
- Settings → Pinchy → Look & behaviour: how he looks and behaves on your desktop, including where he walks.
- Settings → Pinchy → Tricks & milestones: the tricks he has, what unlocks the next one.
- Settings → Pinchy → Notifications: where and how he tells you things.
- Settings → Pinchy → Shortcuts: all keyboard shortcuts in one place, and the switch for all of them.
Limits
- If a shortcut does nothing, another program may already use those keys. Change it, or run Settings → Safety & data → Check everything.
- Tricks are for fun and for pointing at things on screen. He keeps them short while you work.
